Currency movements in producing countries matter: when the Ghanaian cedi weakens, local farmers receive more in local currency, but FOB dollar prices can shift.

Regulatory changes such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) are adding compliance costs that flow through to pricing. Sustainability premiums (Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance) add $100-300/MT.
